SURYA EMPLOYEES RUN "MILES FOR MEALS" TO HELP FEED THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN LIVING IN RURAL INDIA 10.09.13

CALHOUN, Ga. — Oct. 9, 2013 — Surya  today announced that the company’s Miles for Meals initiative has raised more than $38,000 for Akshaya Patra, one of the world’s largest NGO-run school lunch programs. On Sunday, Oct. 6, 24 Surya employees ran in the Allstate Atlanta 13.1 Marathon to raise funds for the charitable organization, which serves a freshly prepared, nutritious lunch each day to more than 1.3 million children throughout rural India. The program not only helps to reduce hunger and malnutrition, but also provides an incentive for children to attend school.

In 2012, Surya’s president, Satya Tiwari, who himself grew up in a small village in Northeastern India, saw the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of impoverished children and their families and donated $250,000 on behalf of Surya to Akshaya Patra. As a result, thousands of children living in rural Indian villages were given access to healthy meals for an entire year.

The “Miles for Meals” program was launched soon thereafter to help raise additional funds for the organization via participation in a half marathon event. Fifteen Surya employees participated in the inaugural Miles for Meals run in 2012, raising $29,000 to feed more than 1,900 children for the coming year. Backed by the generous support of friends, family, customers and the local community, Surya employees once again ran “with a purpose,” exceeding the program’s 2013 fundraising goal of $35,000 by more than $3,000 to date, providing over 2,500 children with lunchtime meals during the next year.

“Hunger should never be a barrier to education,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “I extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every person who has contributed their time and money to benefit this important cause. Introductions are latest in brand’s continued expansion into new home accent categories

CALHOUN, Ga. — Oct. 4, 2013 — Surya will debut mirror and lighting collections at the company’s flagship showroom, Showplace 4100, during the High Point Fall 2013 Market. The introduction of the two new product lines builds upon the launch this past spring of an upholstered accent furniture collection based on the brand’s best-selling flat weave patterns.

Featuring a range of inspired designs available in multiple color palettes, textures and finishes, these latest additions to Surya’s product portfolio complement the brand’s existing offerings—including an extensive range of rugs, pillows, poufs, throws and art—to simplify the selection of accessories for today’s modern living spaces.

“With the entry into mirrors and lighting, we are able to offer our retail and designer customers an even wider selection of on-trend and relevant home decor products while streamlining the shopping experience,” said Lynne Meredith, vice president of product development. “Our expansion into these categories is part of our strategy to develop a fully coordinating product portfolio that corresponds with a variety of lifestyles and home decor preferences—enabling customers to easily design a complete room that reflects their individual style.”

Surya’s mirror collection includes an assortment of decorative frames, available in a variety of finishes and both beveled and non-beveled designs. The company will also offer a custom mirror program that enables customers to “design” a one-of-a-kind mirror, which is then hand cut in the U.S.A. Surya’s inaugural lighting collection is comprised of a selection of eye-catching decorative table lamps in a range of colors and styles that will add warmth and ambience within any space.

“Our core focus at Surya is to constantly improve the customer experience by providing always fresh and relevant home accessories that come together seamlessly to create inspired living environments,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “The addition of these two new product lines, together with coordinating ceramics, was a natural extension as we address our customers’ desire for a wider array of home decor offerings across all price points, while delivering the quality and signature style for which the Surya brand has become known.”

Market visitors are invited to explore these inspired new collections—as well as all of Surya’s colorful new introductions—during High Point Fall 2013 Market in the brand’s Showplace 4100 flagship location. The Surya showroom will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Company introduces more than 200 new indoor-outdoor products, including launch of outdoor art collection

CALHOUN, Ga. — Sept. 13, 2013 — Surya will be exhibiting for the first time at the 2013 International Casual Furniture and Accessories Market (Casual Market) to be held Tuesday, Sept. 17 to Friday, Sept. 20 at The Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Available in a broad spectrum of colors, textures and styles, these versatile products are designed to resist the elements while adding ambience to outdoor living spaces.

Outdoor living areas increasingly have become extensions of the home. According to findings of the American Institute of Architects’ 2013 Home Design Trends Survey, homeowners are continuing to invest in their properties, both by adding to existing outdoor living areas and by blending indoor and outdoor spaces. This trend has driven the need for fashionable, durable exterior home accessory solutions that are both functional and inviting.

“As the line blurs between indoor and outdoor living spaces, homeowners expect their outdoor environments to provide style and comfort, to have more of the feeling and function of an indoor space,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “The expansion of our indoor-outdoor product offering enables us to provide our designer and retail customers with the convenience of a single source for both indoor and outdoor home accessories while also providing impactful training, merchandising and display solutions that facilitate the successful marketing and selling of home accessories.”

Surya introduced its first collection of indoor-outdoor products in 2007. The brand’s offerings in this area have continued to evolve and now include a collection of indoor-outdoor art. Suitable for use in covered outdoor environments, this new art collection spans a range of motifs - including colorful seaside scenes, maps and whimsical designs - to infuse casual comfort into both classic and contemporary outdoor spaces. Also introduced recently is a new outdoor rug pad designed to increase rug longevity.

Casual Market attendees are invited to visit Surya at Booth #8-4055 to explore the latest trends and colorful product introductions in indoor-outdoor accessories.

SURYA INTRODUCES UPHOLSTERED ACCENT FURNITURE COLLECTION 4.21.13

CALHOUN, Ga. — April 21, 2013 — Home accessories brand Surya announces the launch of its first upholstered accent furniture collection. The spirited new range has made its debut at the company’s flagship showroom, Showplace 4100, during the High Point Spring 2013 Market, April 20 – April 25. A natural extension of the brand’s popular pouf collection, the 50+ piece series is the brand’s initial foray into this growing category.

Hand made in India and retail-priced from $199 to $1,499, the broad range of ottomans, benches and foot stools showcases a myriad of colorful styles. The wool upholstery for the new collection takes its design cues from some of Surya’s best-selling flat weave patterns including bold stripes, geometrics, medallions, chevron and houndstooth.

“Our goal is to be the retailer and designer’s one-stop shop for home accessories. We understand that rugs, pillows and other accessories are often the place where the consumer gets to experiment with a new style or color trend that may be too much of a financial commitment in a large furniture piece. Continuing to expand our offerings into small upholstered goods felt like the next logical step in offering a full range of options to our customer,” says Surya President, Satya Tiwari.

Market visitors are invited to explore this thoughtfully designed collection – as well as all of Surya’s colorful new introductions, during High Point Spring Market 2013, running through April 25 in the brand’s Showplace 4100 flagship location.

CALHOUN, Ga. — April 17, 2013 — Home accessories brand Surya is pleased to announce an exclusive new line of pillows inspired by the archival designs of the late Australian designer Florence Broadhurst. Her elegant patterns considered ground-breaking decades ago, now convey a look that’s both contemporary and timeless. Born in rural Queenlands, Australia in 1899, Florence Broadhurst was an accomplished singer and dancer, a renowned artist and owner of a successful wallpaper company that overtook the Australian market.
