SATYA TIWARI NAMED EY ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR 2014 AWARD FINALIST 5.21.14

CALHOUN, Ga. — May 21, 2014 — Satya Tiwari, president of Surya, a progressive manufacturer of area rugs and home accessories, has been named a finalist for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2014 Award in the Southeast region. This prestigious award recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Under Satya’s leadership, Surya has grown from $2.7M in sales in 2004 to more than $80M last year and has been recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of America’s fastest growing privately held companies for three consecutive years.

With the goal of creating a one-stop shop for coordinating, fashion-forward home accessories, Satya continues to push the envelope to drive innovation both at Surya and within the home furnishings industry. Reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit, he has incrementally added new categories to Surya’s initial rug line – doubling marketing spend and expanding product offerings at a time when many companies have cut marketing and operating budgets. Similarly, rather than outsource the product development function, Satya has invested in a robust in-house team to accelerate the product development cycle and quickly bring to market fresh, leading edge designs.

“At its core, Surya is focused on helping our customers optimally meet their customers’ needs by offering highly relevant, on-trend home accessories for all lifestyles and budgets,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “Our exceptional growth would not be possible without our team of dedicated employees, both in the U.S. and India, who share in this commitment and work tirelessly each day to make sure our customers’ expectations are not only met but exceeded. I am honored to be a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and to be in the company of some of the Southeast region’s most forward-thinking leaders.”

Surya currently services more than 6,000 retail, design and e-commerce customers and offers over 30,000 products across a range of categories – including rugs, pillows, throws, wall decor, accent furniture, lighting, decorative accents and a recently launched bedding line. The company’s flexible distribution model has resulted in one of the fastest fulfillment rates in the industry, with 90 percent of products shipping within 24 hours.

Award recipients will be announced at a special gala on Thursday, June 26 at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta. Regional winners go on to compete at the national level. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National Overall Award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., on Nov. 15, 2014.

SURYA ADDS FLEXIBLE REWARD OPTIONS TO CUSTOMER LOYALTY PROGRAM 4.03.14

Brand’s customers can now choose to earn popular consumer reward program currencies, including airline miles and hotel points

CALHOUN, Ga. — April 3, 2014 — Surya has launched an enhanced version of its Surya Rewards customer loyalty program. The expanded program builds upon the company’s existing rewards program, which provides customers with free Surya samples and displays, product discounts and other benefits as they reach key sales milestones.

With the new program – the first of its kind in the industry – customers will have a choice in how they wish to be rewarded. They can choose to earn “Surya Points,” which can be redeemed for Surya products, or to accrue miles or points for their preferred frequent flier or hotel program. Alternately, they can opt to earn Gift Card Points™, which can be redeemed for a wide variety of popular retailer gift cards.

Well-received benefits of the current program, including an entry to win a trip to Surya’s factory in India and donation of a Surya rug to a charitable event on the customer’s behalf, will be carried over into the new program. Surya has also preserved the program’s humanitarian aspect by enabling participants to donate Surya Points to feed children in India through Akshaya Patra, the world’s largest NGO-run mid-day meal program.

“We are excited to provide Surya’s customers with the opportunity to earn miles or points towards many of the programs that they already use on a regular basis,” said Graham Farrell, president of Lift & Shift, the company who will administer the new multi-currency rewards program for Surya. “Surya is known as an innovator in the rug and home accessories industry and this unique program will provide the brand’s loyal customers with an even wider range of benefits, along with a more convenient way to access those benefits.”

Through an interface very similar to those found on popular consumer rewards websites, Surya’s customers will be able to visit the Surya Rewards website and check their rewards account balance 24/7. They also can earn bonus points by taking advantage of special offers that will be listed on the site or sent to them in special Surya Rewards communications.

“Our customers had been telling us that they were looking for more flexibility and convenience in a rewards program and we listened,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “We always strive to provide our customers with the best service possible and are pleased to be able to recognize their growth and loyalty with broader reward options that better address their needs.”

SURYA SET TO DEBUT BEDDING LINE AT HIGH POINT MARKET 3.26.14

Expansion into new product category supports brand’s goal to become a single source provider of a full range of coordinating home accessories

CALHOUN, Ga. — March 26, 2014 — Rug and home accessories brand Surya will unveil a new bedding line at the company’s flagship showroom, Showplace 4100, during the Spring 2014 High Point Market. Each design will be offered in two colorway combinations and will be available as a duvet set with two standard pillow shams in twin, double, queen and king sizes.

“We have been hearing from our customers for a while now that our products are being used within the bedroom setting,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “At the same time, it’s clear that consumers are no longer looking just to decorate one or two rooms within their homes, but instead want to connect multiple rooms to create a harmonious feeling throughout. Our movement into the bedding category will enable retailers and designers to go beyond the living room conversation and engage customers in discussions about their bedroom decor needs, helping to streamline the shopping process while also providing additional sales opportunities.”

Constructed of luxe 330-thread count cotton sateen, the line will also include matching Euro shams and 18-inch pillows, which can be purchased separately.
