SURYA STRENGTHENS HARDLINES OFFERING WITH EXPANDED LIGHTING AND ACCENT FURNITURE COLLECTIONS  3.30.17

Surya continues the aggressive expansion of its lighting category, bringing the total number of lamps in the Surya line to more than 600. Additionally, Surya is growing its accent furniture collection in both breadth and depth by adding 50 new pieces, including center, accent, nesting and side tables, as well as benches, stools and ottomans – for both indoor and outdoor use.

Lighting Surya’s latest lighting introductions include a considerable number of value priced lamps, offering more stylish options at entry-level and mid-level price points. The Surya team worked hard to incorporate direct customer feedback into the products – including the creation of a lighting design task force – to ensure the rapid development of highly relevant designs. Catering to its designer customers, the company has also added a wide array of lamps over 30-inches and increased the number of task and floor lamps in the assortment.

“Countless resources have been allocated to lighting from product development to customer service, inventory and merchandising,” says John Haste, senior vice president of business development at Surya. “Our goal is to be as much of a destination for lighting as we are for rugs and textiles. Because of increasing efficiencies and focus on value across the pricing spectrum, over the past year, Surya’s aggregate pricing for lamps has decreased and we are able to pass those savings on to our customers, which is rare within the industry.”

In addition to offering value, staying in front of design trends is a paramount initiative at Surya. With an entire team dedicated to researching and anticipating trends, the new lighting and accent furniture collections touch on various styles, from updated traditional to modern to casual, and can be effortlessly coordinated with Surya’s rugs and textiles offerings, making it easier to pull rooms together.

“Consumers want their homes to reflect their personal style, and we have accessories in a wide variety of designs at every price point to make that possible,” says Lynne Meredith, vice president of product development at Surya. “Our hardline accessories like lamps, art, mirrors, decorative accents and accent furniture, provide an easy way to bring style into a space without investing a lot of money. We want designers, retailers and consumers alike to think of Surya as go-to resource for coordinating accessories, regardless of their budget and style preferences.”

High Point Market attendees are invited to visit Surya at Showplace 4100 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily to explore all of the brand’s latest introductions. All products displayed in the showroom will be ready to ship within the spring market season.

SURYA HONORED FOR DESIGN EXCELLENCE AT 2017 AMERICA’S MAGNIFICENT CARPET AWARDS  1.17.17

Surya's Tessera rug (TSE-1000) was among the winning rug designs recognized at the 2017 America’s Magnificent Carpet Awards gala, held on Friday, Jan. 13 in Atlanta. The rug, which took top honors in the $200 and under machine made category, features an updated traditional design and bold color palette.

Held each year during the Atlanta International Area Rug Market, America’s Magnificent Carpet Awards honor the year’s best new designs and constructions from the nation’s leading rug manufacturers. Prior to the awards ceremony, market attendees were invited to view all of the entries, which were showcased in the Museum of Introductions Gallery located in AmericasMart Building 1.

Resembling a zero pile hand-knotted rug, Tessera – constructed of polypropylene and cotton – artfully merges freshly interpreted traditional and mosaic tile designs with bright, multi-color hues and a relaxed hand for a vivid vintage look. The bold, fresh color palette includes teal, garnet, dark blue, light gray, burnt orange and black.

“We are honored to have been selected for this prestigious award,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “Our product development team works each season to create new designs that are ever more relevant and accessible to today’s consumers. Our goal with the Tessera collection and other recent machine made collections is to put great design within reach of everyone and allow people with more limited design budgets to express themselves with color. We wanted to design rugs that have a traditional feel but update them to be more daring and fun.”

Market attendees are invited to view the Tessera rug, along with all of Surya’s latest product introductions, at Atlanta Market (11-A-1), Dallas Market (WTC 560), and Las Vegas Market (WMC C400) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
