Custom-specified art work shipped in as little as five business days

CALHOUN, Ga. — Jan. 14, 2015 — Surya is launching later this month a versatile custom art program that makes it easy to browse and order art work from an archive of more than 7,000 curated images spanning a wide variety of subjects and styles. The diverse art work library contains thousands of limited editions along with exclusive works from more than 100 artists – ranging from contemporary to transitional to traditional looks. Winter market attendees are invited to preview the innovative new program during market in Surya’s Dallas and Las Vegas showrooms.

The custom art program, which will be available on surya.com, has been created to provide optimal convenience and design flexibility. Website visitors will be guided through a series of easy-to-navigate steps where they can select an image from categories that include abstract, animals, architectural, botanical, landscape and photography, and then specify the desired medium, framing options and size to create a custom piece that matches their unique design vision. Up to half a million custom configurations will be available.

The flexible program will offer the choice of conventional mediums, including canvas and paper, as well as alternate substrates such as acrylic, metal and wood. High quality materials such as eco-friendly archival, latex and UV-curable inks along with museum grade canvas and acid-free paper will ensure outstanding image reproduction and help to extend the life of the art work. Crafted in the USA by artisan framers, all pieces will be constructed using raw materials and products sourced and manufactured in the USA and arrive ready to hang.

SURYA LAUNCHES VERSATILE NEW RUG DISPLAY AT ATLANTA MARKET 1.08.15


CALHOUN, Ga. — Jan. 8, 2015 — Surya is introducing at Atlanta Market the latest in a series of innovative, retail focused display solutions. The Design Gallery, which is on view in Surya’s AmericasMart showroom – 11-A-1 – has been created to give furniture retailers and designers an attractive, space-conscious way to showcase multiple Surya rugs within their retail space.

Available in two easy-to-assemble configurations, the Design Gallery comes fully stocked with up to 180 unique 18" corner samples, each of which includes a corresponding room scene, additional colorways and/or shapes, and list of available sizes. A warm wood finish and modern, clean-lined design invite customers to approach and interact with the display.

The first option features angled swivel arms for convenient viewing of up to 66 rug samples. Retailers and designers can choose any combination of 18” samples from Surya’s more than 5,500 rug designs. A second option accommodates up to 180 samples that can easily be slid along rods for quick access. Both options include a choice of black or white hangers. Additionally, existing samples can be switched out for new samples at any time for only the cost of freight, providing ultimate design flexibility.

SURYA MAKES YEAR-END GIFT TO PROJECT MALA ON BEHALF OF CUSTOMERS 12.30.14

Donation will give children in weaver communities in rural India access to education and a brighter future

CALHOUN, Ga. — Dec. 30, 2014
— As part of its commitment to improve the social and economic welfare of the communities in which its weavers reside, Surya has made a year-end donation on behalf of its customers to Project Mala. The international nonprofit organization offers education, nutrition and healthcare to children in remote villages in Northern India who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend school – making it possible for them to thrive and realize their potential while also giving hope to future generations.

The funds will be used to provide the children of Surya weavers with classroom education, uniforms, nutritious meals and medical care, and will also support a facilities expansion project at one of Project Mala’s six schools. Additionally, a portion of the donation will be allocated to a recently introduced program that provides preschool tuition for young girls so that they are able to enter primary school with the same advantage as boys of a similar age.

“Coming myself from a small village in Northern India where many of our weavers live, I understand the importance of education in empowering children to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “In a similar way, our customers empower us and inspire us each day to grow as a company. This donation builds upon a partnership between Surya and Project Mala announced earlier this year, wherein Surya agreed to sponsor 160 students annually. SURYA DONATES MORE THAN 3,900 FOOD ITEMS TO COMMUNITY FOOD BANK 11.25.14


CALHOUN, Ga. — Nov. 24, 2014 — Surya employees collected more than 3,900 non-perishable food items during the company’s fourth annual food drive, which took place from Nov. 10 to Nov. 20. The donations were delivered last week to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, which distributes healthy food to residents of 20 counties throughout Northwest Georgia and Tennessee.

Surya held its first food drive in 2011 as a way to help the surrounding community and it has since grown to become an annual initiative. This year, Surya employees formed two teams to see which team could collect the most items. This competitive spirit paid off, with the combined team effort resulting in the collection of 528 more items than were collected during the same period last year.

“More than 49 million Americans live without knowing when and where they will get their next meal,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “During this time of year when families gather to celebrate and give thanks, it’s important to share with those in our community who are less fortunate. Even the smallest act of generosity can have a big impact on the lives of others and I am very proud of the Surya team for coming together in such a big way to help our neighbors in North Georgia and Tennessee.”

SURYA'S MILES FOR MEALS CAMPAIGN RAISES OVER $69K FOR SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM IN RURAL INDIA 11.11.14

Funds raised will provide daily lunches to more than 4,600 school children for an entire year

CALHOUN, Ga. — Nov. 11, 2014 — Surya's third annual ‘Miles for Meals’ campaign exceeded expectations, raising $69,603 for Akshaya Patra, an NGO-run meal program that provides daily hot lunches to thousands of school children in villages in Northern India where Surya’s artisan community resides.

On Saturday, Oct. 4, more than 48 Surya employees, customers and partners ran a half marathon in Cumming, Ga., to raise money for Akshaya Patra, which means “inexhaustible vessel” in Sanskrit. Surya employees also secured donations through creative fundraising initiatives that included an ice bucket challenge, car wash, ping pong tournament, yoga class and sale of handcrafted items and baked goods. Many Surya customers also contributed funds to the campaign.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this year’s Miles for Meals results,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “For many children, the lunchtime meal they receive from Akshaya Patra is their only meal for the day and it can make such a big difference in the lives of not only the children but also their families and the community. The Surya team truly went above and beyond this year, far exceeding our fundraising goal of $50,000, and we look forward to raising even more money for this important cause next year.”

In addition to the money raised by the Miles for Meals campaign, an additional 250 school children will receive meals for a year thanks to members of Surya Rewards, Surya’s customer loyalty program, who donated their Surya Points in October to Akshaya Patra.

Since its inception in 2012, Surya’s Miles for Meals program has raised more than $140,000 for Akshaya Patra. The organization delivers a hot, nutritious midday meal to 1.4 million children daily, and $15 feeds one child for an entire year.
