Will focus on growth of newest accessory categories and made to order options

CALHOUN, Ga. — July 1, 2015 — Surya will showcase during Atlanta Market expanded lighting and bedding categories along with additional customization options, all designed to make it even easier to achieve seamlessly coordinated looks.

Beginning with the launch of its pillow line in 2010, Surya has incrementally added new categories to its offering – with the goal of becoming a one-stop shop for coordinating home accessories across a wide range of styles, colors and price points. With its most recent line expansions, the brand has added significant depth and breadth to its lighting and bedding categories, giving designers and end consumers more product choices and greater design flexibility.

Carefully curated to integrate with the entire Surya line, Surya’s expansive lighting collection boasts 350+ diverse options. A wealth of rich finishes and textures, features such as colored linings and double shades, as well as the availability of matching floor and table lamps, helps to ensure that buyers can find the products that will work for their specific needs.

Surya’s growing bedding line consists of 55+ designs in a broad assortment of styles, colors and luxe materials. Sold as sets or individually, the richly crafted designs can easily be mixed and matched to create any number of trend forward looks.

“We are always looking for ways to optimize the home accessory shopping experience,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “We achieve this not only through our extensive product offering, but also by carrying color palettes and designs across categories to simplify product selection. We were the first in the industry to implement the Pantone matching system, helping designers to feel confident in their color choices. We will continue to innovate to make the design process as seamless as possible. If there’s a better way to do it, then we will be there with the products and programs to make it happen.”

Surya will provide demos of two new made to order programs: the Cut and Sew Rug Program, which enables customers to order a machine-tufted rug in any size and shape for guaranteed shipment within three weeks, and the Made to Order Art Program, which offers a choice of 7,500+ images available on a variety of materials and in more than 800,000 configurations. Also being featured is an interactive art merchandising program that displays a selection of made to order art in multiple materials and frame types for easy comparison by end consumers.

SURYA TO LAUNCH RUG DESIGNS BY ARTIST ALEXANDER WYLY AT ATLANTA MARKET 6.26.15

CALHOUN, Ga. — June 26, 2015 —
Surya has partnered with Asheville, N.C.-based artist and textile designer Alexander Wyly to introduce an inspired new line of hand-crafted rugs. Intended to add a modern touch to traditional spaces, the spirited designs play upon the dynamic harmony between simplicity and complexity, the organic and geometric, ancient and contemporary.

The collections, which will be unveiled at Atlanta Market, include Ridgewood, finely hand-tufted designs with rhythmic patterns accented by viscose and presented in sophisticated, natural hues; Lockhart, featuring a tight micro-loop technique to enhance bold, interlocking graphic forms; and Anagram, hand-tufted wool motifs with an energetic, undulating pattern created by the interplay of crisp geometric shapes.

“My aim is to infuse a sense of joy, wonder and beauty into people’s lives with home decor that playfully combines vibrant color, texture and pattern,” said Alexander Wyly, designer. “It was a great experience working with the Surya product development team to interpret my design vision into beautiful rugs that will not only enhance interiors but, hopefully, transform them into artful and unexpected living spaces.”

Wyly, who gathers inspiration from a number of sources, including daily walks in the woods of the Blue Ridge Mountains, tribal art and his travels to India, Japan, Thailand and New Zealand, has been creating innovative designs for upholstery, wall coverings and rugs for the past four years.

“Alexander Wyly exemplifies Surya’s goal to deliver fresh design to today’s consumers,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “His lively designs have universal appeal with a contemporary yet timeless style that complements a broad range of lifestyles and decor needs.”

Added Wyly, “Surya was the perfect choice to bring my designs to life. I have long admired the brand’s attention to detail, strong ethics and energetic drive within the marketplace and felt a strong synergy from the start. I look forward to building upon our collaboration.”

SURYA TO SHOWCASE BROAD SPECTRUM OF BEDDING AND LIGHTING DESIGNS AT DALLAS MARKET 6.17.15

CALHOUN, Ga. — June 17, 2015
— Surya will unveil a diverse selection of home accessories at the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, highlighting added depth and breadth in its product offering while also focusing on ease of coordination across categories.

Products to be spotlighted include more than 50 distinctive bedding designs in a wide range of styles, colors and materials. Along with duvet sets and coordinating quilts, Euro shams, accent pillows and poufs (for select designs), the line now features bed skirts and a choice of down or poly duvet insert. All designs are available as sets or can be purchased individually for convenient mixing and matching, and most designs are in-stock and ready to ship.

Also on display will be a significantly expanded lighting collection, which has grown to encompass more than 350 thoughtfully-curated options for a variety of lifestyles and design needs. New for this market are coordinated table and floor lamps, more crystal and glass designs and features such as laser cut shades, double shades and colored linings.

“While providing an extensive range of home accessory categories is valuable, that’s only part of the equation,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “It’s important also to create depth within each category, so that designers and end consumers can build their ideal room without having to shop multiple sources. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive range of styles, textures and color palettes that work together seamlessly across our entire offering so that anyone – regardless of design aesthetic or budget – can achieve a truly cohesive look.”

Towards that end, Surya recently introduced made to order art and rug programs designed to provide increased customization options with quick turnaround times.

Added Tiwari, “It’s not a one-size-fits-all world. More and more, people are seeking their own signature look and to define their spaces in a very personal way. By offering convenient tailor-made options, we are making design more accessible. We look forward to sharing our latest products and programs with market attendees.”

CALHOUN, Ga. — May 19, 2015 — Surya has been named to the 2015 Georgia Fast 40 by ACG Atlanta, the Atlanta Chapter of The Association for Corporate Growth® (ACG), a global professional organization focused on middle-market growth, mergers and acquisitions, and private investment.

Each year, ACG Atlanta honors the top 40 fastest growing middle-market companies in Georgia. To be eligible for the award, companies must be for profit and headquartered in Georgia; have recent year-end revenues ranging from $15 million to $500 million; and demonstrate three years of verifiable revenue and employment growth.

Surya’s incremental expansion into multiple home accessory categories paired with significant investment in marketing and technology tools, extensive inventory and one of the fastest fulfillment rates in the industry, have been instrumental in the company’s year-over-year double digit revenue growth. Surya also continues to attract strong talent to its ranks, adding 100 jobs from 2012 to 2014, doubling its employee head count.

To take advantage of manufacturing efficiencies and provide its customers with shorter lead times, Surya has set a goal of producing 25 percent of its products domestically by 2016. In support of this goal, the company recently introduced a made-to-order rug program based out of its Calhoun location that guarantees shipment of rugs in any size and shape within three weeks, and a U.S.-based made-to-order art program that provides more than 800,000 possible artwork configurations.

“Finding ways to solve our retailer and designer customers’ business challenges has always been our top priority and what drives us to excellence,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “Every day, the Surya team works with one goal in mind: to bring to market innovative new products and solutions that will help our customers effectively compete in the market and build the most successful home accessories business possible. It’s simple, but it works. I would like to thank ACG Atlanta for this important recognition and our customers for their continued support and loyalty.”

The Georgia Fast 40 award is one of several recent honors that Surya has received. Earlier this year, the company was named for the fourth consecutive year to the Inc. 5000 list of the nation's fastest growing privately-held companies, and Satya Tiwari has been selected as a Southeast region finalist for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award for the second year running.

In 2015, Surya will open a one million square foot state-of-the-art corporate headquarters and distribution center in Cartersville, Ga.—providing a new home for its 300+ employees and bringing an estimated 200 new jobs to the region.

CALHOUN, Ga. — April 30, 2015 —
Surya has made a donation of $20,000 to the American Red Cross in support of the organization’s relief efforts in Nepal in the wake of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the country last week. Donations were collected from Surya employees and sales reps and matched by Surya.

An estimated eight million people in Nepal have been impacted by the earthquake, with more than 5,500 reported fatalities to date and thousands of families still living out in the open due to loss of their homes or fear of additional damage.

“Our hearts go out to the people of Nepal as they work to rebuild their communities after this devastating event,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “We can only imagine the challenges and uncertainty that lie ahead and wanted to reach out in some small way to help those affected begin the road to recovery. We hope that our customers and vendor partners will also consider donating or helping in any way that they can.”

The American Red Cross has committed $1,000,000 to help provide emergency humanitarian assistance in Nepal and is mobilizing disaster specialists as part of a larger global Red Cross relief response being led by the Nepal Red Cross. In addition to providing recovery planning and telecommunications support, the American Red Cross is lending remote mapping and information management support to help reconnect separated families. Supplies, including non-food items such as tarps, buckets, kitchen sets and blankets, are also being sent to Nepal.

While Surya doesn’t employ weavers in Nepal, the company employs several Nepalese citizens in its Calhoun, Ga., offices. “We are very thankful to Surya and our fellow employees, as well as the Surya sales reps, for their kind generosity,” said Sunil Gurung, staff accountant, Surya. “It means a lot to us and, more importantly, to the millions of people in Nepal who have had their lives forever changed by this unexpected event.”

SURYA BRINGS “ART TO LIFE” WITH INNOVATIVE ART MERCHANDISING PROGRAM 4.17.15

Interactive experience makes it easy for consumers to purchase art in the retail setting

CALHOUN, Ga. — April 17, 2015 — Surya is showcasing at High Point Market a progressive new merchandising solution that will help retailers enter the art category with minimal cost and space requirements, as well as grow art sales. The first of its kind solution supports Surya’s recently launched Made to Order Art Program, which enables designers and consumers to choose from 9,000+ curated images in a wide variety of subjects and styles and then specify the medium and frame type to create tailor-made art for shipment within 5 to 7 days.

Recognizing that the art category traditionally has been difficult to shop and that most retail locations have limited floor space, Surya turned to technology to develop a solution that is easy to set up and enables consumers to view artwork in a variety of configurations within a small footprint area. The result was the Art Gallery Merchandising Program, an interactive retail solution that offers several versatile options, including:

  • Art Gallery Set – Consists of 10 individual artwork pieces featuring the same image printed on all available materials for placement on a retail wall wherever space is available.
  • Wall Display – Showcases 6 to 10 different pieces of artwork printed on a variety of materials and in different orientations. Available in four sizes – ranging from 8 to 20 feet in width – and includes a choice of curated packages, including Contemporary, Transitional, Coastal and a Combination package that features a mix of artwork styles.
  • Art Gallery Panel – Features two vertical panels that display a single image printed on multiple substrates – including canvas, paper, acrylic, metal and wood – along with several popular framing options. Can be used standalone or to augment the medium, large and extra large wall displays.

“With our art merchandising program, we are making the art category more accessible by giving the consumer the power to create their own personalized artwork,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “The interactive art wall allows retailers to showcase a million configuration options, bringing 'art to life' without the need to invest in inventory or allocate a significant amount of wall space to the category.”

Surya plans to develop additional customization programs to give retailers and designers even more design flexibility. In addition to the Made to Order Art Program, the brand offers two made to order rug options, including the Cut and Sew and Craft by Size rug programs.

Market attendees are invited to explore the Art Gallery Merchandising Program at Surya’s flagship showroom – Showplace 4100 – which will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Surya is also hosting several educational and social events and will serve a complimentary catered breakfast and lunch each day, along with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails each evening.
