SURYA TO EMPHASIZE COLOR, EFFORTLESS COORDINATION OF OUTDOOR ACCESSORIES AT CASUAL MARKET 9.10.15

Surya will unveil at Casual Market hundreds of new outdoor rugs and accessories in fresh styles, colors and high performance fabrics. The brand plans to showcase the ease with which its growing selection of outdoor products can be mixed and matched to create seamlessly coordinated outdoor spaces for any design or budget need.

Surya significantly expanded its outdoor offering this past year to include additional categories such as outdoor lighting, wall decor and decorative accents while also adding depth to its existing outdoor rug, pillow and pouf collections. Available in a variety of price points and innovative constructions, the latest product debuts incorporate durable, weather-resistant finishes and materials for extended product lifespan and ease of care.

Products to be highlighted at market include:

  • 50+ outdoor-safe lighting options in an assortment of colorful hues
  • 250+ pillows and 90+ poufs in a wide selection of brights and neutrals for easy mixing and matching
  • Full range of decorative accents, including planters, garden stools, lanterns and candle holders
  • Eye-catching rug designs in trend forward styles, constructions and materials

Surya will also showcase a number of merchandising and display solutions created to provide design inspiration and make it easier to engage consumers during the store visit.

“Most outdoor furniture is beige or gray, so when a consumer walks into a retail store, they’re typically looking at a blank slate,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “What we’ve done is build out a comprehensive outdoor line featuring a broad range of colorways and styles and then created pre-packaged vignettes in popular color combinations that will spark the consumer’s imagination and get them excited about decorating their outdoor space. We’re not only making it easier for retailers to promote and sell outdoor products but are also simplifying the shopping experience for the consumer.”

Surya recently received the International Casual Furnishings Association (ICFA) 2015 Manufacturer Leadership Award in the Outdoor Carpeting/Rugs/Flooring category. Honorees were selected by ICFA’s retail, designer and supplier membership based on the design and quality of their products, as well as merchandising, customer service, ethics, communications and trade relations.

Casual Market attendees are invited to explore Surya’s latest outdoor offerings at Booth #7-3088 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Surya will also be serving cocktails each afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m.

SURYA SETS FUNDRAISING GOAL OF $75K FOR FOURTH ANNUAL “MILES FOR MEALS” CAMPAIGN 9.02.15

Surya has launched its fourth annual Miles for Meals fundraising campaign in support of Artistic Weavers, a value-focused rug and home accessories brand geared to younger consumers who are looking for trend-driven, fashionable looks at an affordable price point, will debut at the upcoming High Point Market. The product line currently includes a selection of 150+ hand-tufted and machine-made designs in a variety of styles and colors along with recently introduced coordinating pillows in bold geometric patterns.

Rug offerings from Artistic Weavers include indoor and outdoor styles ranging from classic and transitional designs to natural fiber and geometric looks, all of which sell for $349 and under. Coordinating pillows retail for $29 and under.

Artistic Weavers was soft launched in 2014 to test the market, collect feedback and enable fine tuning prior to a full scale roll-out to a broader audience. Based on the positive response received from retailers and e-commerce partners and strong sales momentum, the company’s official launch has been planned to coincide with the heavily attended fall market.

“When we initially conceived Artistic Weavers, we envisioned it as the perfect balance of style and value,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “We sought to offer Millennials and consumers who are at once fashion conscious and very mindful of their budgets, a way to give their living spaces a very personal feel without straining their wallets. At the same time, we wanted to provide regional stores and larger retail groups with an expanded value-priced offering that would help them tap into these underserved segments as well as more effectively compete with big box retailers. We’re excited to introduce this new company to market attendees.”

While drawing upon the wealth of knowledge and best practices gleaned from Surya’s nearly 40 years in the home furnishings industry, Artistic Weavers is an independently operated company that has its own dedicated sales, product development and sourcing team.

Market attendees are invited to explore the offerings from Artistic Weavers at Market Square 212 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily during market.

SURYA KICKS OFF INAUGURAL END OF SUMMER ACCESSORIES SALE 8.20.15

Surya is set to launch an accessories-focused end of summer sales event on Monday, Aug. 24. The event, which runs through Wednesday, Sept. 30, is intended to give retailers and designers the opportunity to realize the positive impact that the sale of accessories can have on their revenue stream. The sale has been timed to include the busy Labor Day weekend, enabling retailers to offer more competitive pricing and drive higher traffic to their stores.

Surya is offering two special promotions for qualifying accessory orders written during the sale period.

  • Accessories Savings Pass – Receive 20 percent off of a $1,000 accessory order along with 20 percent off all additional accessory orders placed through the end of September.
  • Accessories Add-On Sale – Receive 20 percent off of any accessories included on a $500+ rug and/or rug pad order.

“Time and time again, we hear from retailers and designers how their revenue has increased as a result of actively promoting accessories at the time of the upholstery sale,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “Accessories are an easy add-on at the point of purchase that can continue to generate revenue long after the sale in the form of customer referrals and repeat visits to the store. We are excited to offer our customers the chance to pass along to their customers substantial savings on thousands of fashion forward accessories across the Surya line.”

With the goal of being a one-stop source for coordinating home accessories, Surya has incrementally expanded into additional categories, beginning with the introduction of pillows in 2010 and followed by throws, poufs, wall decor, accent furniture, lighting, decorative accents and – most recently – bedding. To make it easy to build expertly coordinated looks, all products are matched to their Pantone® TPX equivalents and color palettes are carried throughout all categories.

Added Tiwari, “The Surya sales team is well versed on ways to effectively integrate accessories into retail programs and design projects to optimize value and return on investment. We encourage our customers to contact their Surya sales specialist to learn how, with a minimal amount of effort, they can significantly boost their bottom line.”

SURYA EARNS SPOT ON INC. 5000 LIST FOR FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR, JOINS HONOR ROLL 8.13.15

Surya has been named to the prestigious Inc. 5000 list for the fifth straight year. The home accessories provider secured its place on the list, an exclusive ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies, based on revenue growth of 103 percent and the addition of 135 jobs during a three-year period. By revenue, Surya ranked in the top 25 in the Consumer Products & Services segment and 14 among 221 Georgia-based companies making the list. In recognition of its five-year track record of strong growth, the brand also garnered a spot on the Inc. 5000 Honor Roll.

This achievement marks a significant accomplishment for Surya, which has doubled its revenue during the past three years, growing from $50 million in sales in 2011 to $101.3 million in 2014. Contributing to this steady organic growth is the brand’s incremental expansion into multiple home accessory categories, including – most recently – lighting and bedding, and new channels such as hospitality and outdoor. Committed to innovation, Surya is also a leader in providing its customers with targeted, technology-driven merchandising and sales solutions designed to help them optimize home accessory sales.

“Family businesses like Surya are a significant contributor in creating jobs and value for our economy, and our continued growth in both revenue and head count validates that we are making a real impact,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “This success wouldn’t be possible without the many retailers and designers who support our vision as well as our employees and partners who, through their passion and determination, are pushing the limits on service delivery and raising the bar for the home furnishings industry. We are truly honored to be named to the Inc. 5000 list for the fifth year running.”

Surya is scheduled to relocate to a new, one-million-square-foot corporate office and distribution facility in Cartersville, Ga., in late 2015. The move will allow the brand to consolidate shipping and distribution for its product offerings, creating a highly efficient logistics base and increased operational flexibility while also enabling the addition of more than 200 jobs during the next several years.

“The story of this year’s Inc. 5000 is the story of great leadership,” commented Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. “In an incredibly competitive business landscape, it takes something extraordinary to take your company to the top. Business owners don’t achieve that kind of success by accident.”

Methodology
The 2015 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2011 to 2014. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2011 and be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of Dec. 31, 2014.

About Inc. Media
Founded in 1979 and acquired in 2005 by Mansueto Ventures, Inc. is the only major brand dedicated exclusively to owners and managers of growing private companies, with the aim to deliver real solutions for today's innovative company builders. Total monthly audience reach for the brand has grown significantly from 2,000,000 in 2010 to over 13,000,000 today. For more information, visit www.inc.com.

SURYA SHORTENS PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT CYCLE, INCREASES SPEED TO MARKET 7.17.15

Surya will unveil at Las Vegas Market hundreds of new trend forward products, all of which will be readily available to buyers and designers soon after market. The brand plans to display only rugs and accessories that are in stock or on the water to ensure that all market orders can be fulfilled during the current season, regardless of whether the products are in line, or freshly debuted.

“Surya brings to market more than a thousand new accessories each year,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “While it’s important to innovate and introduce products reflecting the latest trends, it’s equally important to get those products to customers quickly rather than asking them to wait several months for SKUs to arrive in inventory. With this in mind, our operations team has worked diligently to identify factories with very quick turnaround times so that, by the time market season arrives, we can offer our customers truly ‘sellable’ products that they can quickly get into the hands of their customers.”

A forerunner in using technology to optimize business processes, Surya has also invested heavily in in-house analytics and product design teams, which has helped to further refine and streamline the product development cycle.

Added Tiwari, “In addition to regularly seeking feedback from our customers, we carefully analyze market data to determine purchasing patterns and product gaps. This attention to detail enables us to make sure we’re delivering the right products at the right time and optimizing inventory levels for the 40,000+ SKUs that we offer.”

Surya currently ships to more than 23,000 U.S. zip codes and 50 countries, and has one of the fastest fulfillment rates in the industry – with 90 percent of running line products ready for shipment within 24 hours. In late 2015, the company will open a one-million-square-foot corporate headquarters and distribution center in Cartersville, Ga., which will further increase warehousing and operational efficiencies.

“Our business is about providing quality products, exceptional value and great service,” commented Tiwari. “Showing products that are not only relevant for the season but quickly available will help our retailer and designer customers better serve the needs of their customers. It’s a winning situation for everyone.”

Market attendees are invited to explore Surya’s full range of products, along with merchandising and technology solutions, at the brand’s Las Vegas Market showroom – WMC C-400 – which will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. A complimentary hot catered breakfast and lunch will be served each day, along with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails each evening.

We were the first in the industry to implement the Pantone matching system, helping designers to feel confident in their color choices. We will continue to innovate to make the design process as seamless as possible. If there’s a better way to do it, then we will be there with the products and programs to make it happen.”

Surya will provide demos of two new made to order programs: the Cut and Sew Rug Program, which enables customers to order a machine-tufted rug in any size and shape for guaranteed shipment within three weeks, and the Made to Order Art Program, which offers a choice of 7,500+ images available on a variety of materials and in more than 800,000 configurations. SURYA TO LAUNCH RUG DESIGNS BY ARTIST ALEXANDER WYLY AT ATLANTA MARKET 6.26.15

Surya has partnered with Asheville, N.C.-based artist and textile designer Alexander Wyly to introduce an inspired new line of hand-crafted rugs. Intended to add a modern touch to traditional spaces, the spirited designs play upon the dynamic harmony between simplicity and complexity, the organic and geometric, ancient and contemporary.

The collections, which will be unveiled at Atlanta Market, include Ridgewood, finely hand-tufted designs with rhythmic patterns accented by viscose and presented in sophisticated, natural hues; Lockhart, featuring a tight micro-loop technique to enhance bold, interlocking graphic forms; and Anagram, hand-tufted wool motifs with an energetic, undulating pattern created by the interplay of crisp geometric shapes.

“My aim is to infuse a sense of joy, wonder and beauty into people’s lives with home decor that playfully combines vibrant color, texture and pattern,” said Alexander Wyly, designer. “It was a great experience working with the Surya product development team to interpret my design vision into beautiful rugs that will not only enhance interiors but, hopefully, transform them into artful and unexpected living spaces.”

Wyly, who gathers inspiration from a number of sources, including daily walks in the woods of the Blue Ridge Mountains, tribal art and his travels to India, Japan, Thailand and New Zealand, has been creating innovative designs for upholstery, wall coverings and rugs for the past four years.

“Alexander Wyly exemplifies Surya’s goal to deliver fresh design to today’s consumers,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “His lively designs have universal appeal with a contemporary yet timeless style that complements a broad range of lifestyles and decor needs.”

Added Wyly, “Surya was the perfect choice to bring my designs to life. I have long admired the brand’s attention to detail, strong ethics and energetic drive within the marketplace and felt a strong synergy from the start. I look forward to building upon our collaboration.”

Market attendees are invited to view the new rug collections at Atlanta Market – AmericasMart 11-A-1 – from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Surya will serve a complimentary hot catered breakfast and lunch each day, along with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails each evening.

SURYA TO SHOWCASE BROAD SPECTRUM OF BEDDING, LIGHTING DESIGNS AT DALLAS MARKET 6.17.15

Surya will unveil a diverse selection of home accessories at the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, highlighting added depth and breadth in its product offering while also focusing on ease of coordination across categories.

Products to be spotlighted include more than 50 distinctive bedding designs in a wide range of styles, colors and materials. Along with duvet sets and coordinating quilts, Euro shams, accent pillows and poufs (for select designs), the line now features bed skirts and a choice of down or poly duvet insert. All designs are available as sets or can be purchased individually for convenient mixing and matching, and most designs are in-stock and ready to ship.

Also on display will be a significantly expanded lighting collection, which has grown to encompass more than 350 thoughtfully-curated options for a variety of lifestyles and design needs. New for this market are coordinated table and floor lamps, more crystal and glass designs and features such as laser cut shades, double shades and colored linings.

“While providing an extensive range of home accessory categories is valuable, that’s only part of the equation,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “It’s important also to create depth within each category, so that designers and end consumers can build their ideal room without having to shop multiple sources. Our goal is to offer a comprehensive range of styles, textures and color palettes that work together seamlessly across our entire offering so that anyone – regardless of design aesthetic or budget – can achieve a truly cohesive look.”

Towards that end, Surya recently introduced made to order art and rug programs designed to provide increased customization options with quick turnaround times.
