SURYA TO 'GO GREENERY' AT WINTER MARKETS 12.09.16

Surya will showcase during the winter markets a selection of rugs and accessories in Greenery, the Pantone® 2017 Color of the Year. Surya offers a diverse range of products in this rejuvenating hue, which Pantone describes as "a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew."

According to Pantone, Greenery is emblematic of new beginnings, bringing forth thoughts of lush foliage and immersion in the outdoors while fulfilling the desire to reconnect with nature and to find greater meaning and a sense of purpose. This versatile shade spans all seasons and can be paired with neutrals, brights, jewel tones, pastels, and metallics to lend a sense of connectedness and vitality to interior and exterior spaces.

"Pantone's announcement of Greenery as the color of the year is no surprise to Surya," said Lynne Meredith, vice president of product development, Surya. "We have been seeing green as an emerging color trend in home decor for a while now in all its shade variations – from deep emeralds and bottle greens through leafy hues and acid limes. This versatile hue is synonymous with the nature we see around us every day, creating a feeling of familiarity and comfort. As the garden and yard increasingly becomes an extension of living spaces, Greenery is the perfect transitional color for indoor/outdoor rugs and decorative accents."

Greenery will be translated in home decor and architecture via living walls, terrariums, botanically-themed wallpaper and paint, accent furniture and decor. The uplifting and regenerative hue complements the trend toward open spaces in interior and exterior design, which invites the outdoors to become a part of a room's essence.

"Greenery's tangy yellow-green speaks to our desire to express, explore, experiment and reinvent, imparting a sense of buoyancy," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. "Through its reassuring yet assertive vibrancy, Greenery offers us self-assurance and boldness to live life on our own terms, during a time when we are redefining what makes us successful and happy."

Market attendees are invited to visit Surya’s showrooms this winter, where a curated selection of products in Greenery – including rugs, pillows, throws, lighting, accent furniture, art, and more – will be showcased along with thousands of other accessories across a broad spectrum of styles and price points. These products, and all other items displayed in Surya’s showrooms, will be ready to ship during the winter season. Market attendees who schedule an appointment with their Surya sales specialist at www.surya.com/market-registration will receive five free 18" corner rug samples. Surya has released its fall 2016 catalog, which includes enhancements designed to make it even easier to shop Surya accessories across all product categories. The catalog, which is now available in print, online and via Surya's free iPhone®/iPad® app, features 830 pages of style, color and inspiration – encompassing a broad range of options for every lifestyle and budget.

To help customers quickly find products, Surya has grouped all accessories into four major categories: hard lines (lighting, wall decor and decorative accents), textiles (pillows, throws, accent furniture and bedding), rugs and outdoor products. Pillows, lighting and mirrors are now organized by style – for example, Casual, Modern, New Traditional and so on – making it easy to locate coordinating products across the entire Surya line. Accessories within each style are presented in order of descending price, from high ($$$$$) to low ($), further simplifying product selection.

The new catalog also incorporates more lifestyle photography, including multiple room scenes and style shots, and product close-ups that emphasize texture and design details. Opening the catalog is an artfully-styled trends section showcasing four inspiring lifestyle vignettes that can easily be scaled to any retail environment to help promote cross-category sales. As always, a Top Sellers section highlighting best-selling products within each category offers quick access to 450+ rug and accessory options with proven sales traction – all of which are guaranteed to ship within 48 hours.

"With each new catalog, we look for ways to bring more value to our customers, and to enrich the accessories buying experience," said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. "We understand that every customer is different, with unique business challenges and a distinctive vision for their success. Our breadth of products and price points makes it easy for retailers and designers to tailor accessories to their customers' specific design preferences and budgets, and that is reflected throughout our latest catalog. Our team has worked hard to provide a visually inspiring and easy-to-navigate sales tool, and we hope our customers find it to be our most useful catalog yet."

Also featured in the catalog are sections dedicated to Surya's growing personalization options, including made to order rug and art programs offering almost limitless design flexibility and shipment of products in as little as one week.

SURYA TO SPOTLIGHT VALUE ACROSS THE SPECTRUM AT HIGH POINT MARKET 10.13.16

Surya will debut hundreds of rugs and accessories at this fall's High Point Market, including many new options at value price points. Among the featured introductions are more than 200 new lamps, new machine-made rug designs and an expanded collection of luxe, hand-knotted rugs.

New lamps being unveiled include floor, table and task lamps in an array of materials and finishes – from geode and marbled looks to mottled and sandblasted glass to mixed metal and wrapped leather styles. The extensive offering marks Surya's largest lamp introduction since the brand launched its inaugural lighting collection at High Point Market three years ago. New designs to be presented span a wide variety of price points and looks, providing options for a diverse mix of customers and budgets.

Surya's newest machine-made collections reinforce the brand's focus on bringing to market designs with a distinctive handcrafted look for budget-conscious consumers. The collections include:

  • Allegro – A subtle palette of muted grays, greens, blues and beiges in tonal hues imbues Allegro's gently distressed classic designs and soft watercolor florals with refined elegance and lustrous sheen.
  • Harput – With an eclectic mix of motifs, including abstracts, damasks and overscaled traditional designs, Harput delivers vibrant, global-inspired looks with a blend of modern sensibility and bohemian appeal.
  • Stretto – Stretto's updated classic, global and patchwork designs are brought to life in polyester set against an undyed wool ground for a dimensional matte/shine look. Unexpected pops of rich color lend a fresh, contemporary feel.
  • Tessera – Resembling a zero pile hand-knotted rug, Tessera – constructed of polypropylene and cotton – artfully merges freshly interpreted traditional and mosaic tile designs with bright, multi-color hues and a relaxed hand for a vivid vintage look.

Surya has also added breadth and depth to its high end, hand-knotted rug offering. A range of luxurious new designs are in stock and available now. Collections to be highlighted at market include:

  • Cappadocia – Based on traditional Heriz rug designs, Cappadocia's newest additions pair overscaled classic motifs in a rich, multi-color palette with a distressed appearance to create a timeless, heirloom quality.
  • Libra One – Libra One, developed in collaboration with award-winning designer Joe Ginsberg, features kaleidoscopic motifs rendered in a palette of softly muted pastels for a translucent, layered effect that is at once abstract and sophisticated.
  • Normandy – Hand knotted of wool, the latest additions to Normandy feature traditional designs in warm neutrals finished with an antique wash, allowing subtle details to pop through for a relaxed, high end look.

"We understand that, to remain competitive, designers and retailers must be able to meet the design needs of a wide range of consumers," said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. "That's why, we are continuing to add depth and breadth to our line to ensure that it encompasses the broadest offering of styles, constructions and price points possible while always delivering strong value. For this market, we've added products across the spectrum, with a focus on giving our customers the options they need to build a successful accessories program and achieve their unique business vision."

SURYA ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF SURYA SPACES CONTEST 9.07.16

Surya has named the winners of the third round of its popular Surya Spaces Contest. In early July, the brand invited its customers to submit photos of their favorite design projects featuring Surya rugs and accessories for the chance to win up to $1,000 toward Surya products.

More than 150 photos highlighting a broad range of decor styles and spaces were received from designers located throughout the United States. The winning entries, which were selected by Surya's leadership team based on creativity, design aesthetic and successful integration of Surya rugs and accessories, are:

  • 1st Place | Palm Singh of La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries/Sacramento – $1,000 in Surya products
  • 2nd Place | Tara Boelio of Mary Cook Associates – $750 in Surya products
  • 3rd Place | Tiffany Anich of Southerly Abode – $500 in Surya products

"The inspiration for our project came from the quiet calm of still water," said Palm Singh, vice president of design, La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries of Sacramento. "We wanted to create a modern zen feel, and started by choosing some amazing rugs from Surya, mirroring the rugs to reflect a tranquil image. Choosing the correct colors is so crucial for a well-balanced design, and we love that Surya understands the importance of working with the Pantone match-ups. It allows us to feel very confident in selecting the right rugs and accessories for our projects. The Sacramento La-Z-Boy team and I are very honored to receive this important recognition!"

All contest entries were featured in a special Surya Spaces Facebook image gallery, and the most ‘liked’ entry each week was spotlighted across Surya’s social media channels, providing access to more than 158,000 followers and potential future customers.

"The caliber of this year's Surya Spaces Contest entries exceeded our expectations," said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. "We enjoyed seeing the many, and diverse, ways our talented customers have transformed spaces using Surya accessories, and are inspired by their creative vision and passion for design. We're also excited to be able to provide additional exposure to contest entrants by sharing their design projects with our extensive social media audience. Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest and helped to make it a great success."

Surya customers are encouraged to continue posting their design projects incorporating Surya accessories using the tag #suryaspaces for a chance to be featured on the brand’s social media sites.

SURYA LAUNCHES FIFTH ANNUAL MILES FOR MEALS CAMPAIGN 9.02.16

Surya has kicked off its fifth annual Miles for Meals fundraising initiative. The campaign, which runs through Oct. 31, 2016, supports Akshaya Patra (Unlimited Food for Education), an award-winning school lunch program that provides daily, hot nutritious meals to underserved children living in rural India, encouraging them to attend school and complete their education.

As part of the campaign – and the inspiration for the "Miles for Meals" name – Surya employees, friends and family members will run a half marathon in Atlanta on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, to raise funds and awareness for the program. Employees will also participate in team fundraising projects, which have in the past included car washes, craft and bake sales, a ping pong tournament and an international-themed luncheon.

"Too often, impoverished families living in remote areas in Northern India feel they have no other option but to pull their children from school to help put food on the table," said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. "As a result, these children are denied the chance for an education and hope for a brighter future. Akshaya Patra is removing obstacles to education one meal – and one child – at a time, making a lasting impact in communities that previously had little or no chance of moving beyond poverty. We are excited to kick off our fifth annual Miles for Meals campaign."

Surya created the Miles for Meals campaign in 2012, sparked by the desire to help improve the lives of children and their families living in Uttar Pradesh, India, where the company's more than 50,000 artisans reside. Surya has already raised over $215,000 for the internationally-recognized lunch program, which serves a freshly prepared hot meal every day to 1.6 million children throughout India. The fundraising goal for this year's campaign is $75,000, which will provide lunchtime meals for 5,000 children in Northern India for one year.

Surya President Satya Tiwari joined the Akshaya Patra USA advisory board in 2015 to help expand the reach and impact of the school lunch program. Other advisory board members include Deepak Chopra, founder, The Chopra Center for Wellbeing; Fareed Zakaria, author, journalist and host of CNN’s “GPS”; and Nitin Nohria, dean, Harvard Business School.

Donations to Surya’s Miles for Meals campaign are tax-deductible and can be made through Oct. 31, 2016, via the following site: www.razoo.com/us/story/Surya-Miles-For-Meals-Campaign-2016. It costs just $15 to feed one child for an entire year.

SURYA NAMED TO INC. 5000 LIST OF FASTEST GROWING COMPANIES FOR SIXTH YEAR IN A ROW 8.18.16

For the sixth consecutive year, Surya has earned a spot on the esteemed Inc. 5000 list, an annual ranking of the nation's fastest growing private companies. In 2015, Surya was named to the Inc. 5000 Honor Roll, joining the ranks of a select group of companies that have appeared on the Inc. 5000 list for five years or more.

Surya secured its place on this year's Inc. 5000 list based on a three-year revenue growth of 84 percent. Among the 220 Georgia-based companies making the list, Surya ranked 13th by revenue and in the top five in the Consumer Products & Services segment. The company continues to achieve significant double-digit growth, with revenues increasing from $64 million in 2012 to $117 million in 2015.

"Since its inception, Surya has embodied a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to take big risks to achieve big rewards," said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. "We couldn't have come so far without the shared passion and support of our customers and employees, who have been an integral part of this amazing journey. We are honored to once again be named to the prestigious Inc. 5000 list, a distinction that underscores our commitment to continually raise the bar for the home furnishings industry."

Founded in 1976 by Surya Tiwari to preserve artisan craft and provide a better life for families in rural India, Surya has evolved into a leading provider of coordinating accessories for a broad range of lifestyles and budgets. The addition during the past several years of multiple accessory categories, including lighting, bedding, and – most recently – made to order rug and art programs, along with an expansion into new segments such as the contract market, continues to drive significant growth. An emphasis on developing technology-driven sales and merchandising programs to help its designer and retailer customers build a successful accessories business has also been a key contributor to the company's strong performance.

"The Inc. 5000 list stands out where it really counts," said Inc. President and Editor-In-Chief Eric Schurenberg. "No one makes the Inc. 5000 without building something great – usually from scratch. That’s one of the hardest things to do in business, as every company founder knows. But without it, free enterprise fails."

In May 2016, Surya moved into to a new, one-million-square-foot corporate headquarters and distribution facility in Cartersville, Ga. The move has substantially expanded the company's operational capacity and efficiency while setting the foundation to bring to the North Georgia region more than 200 additional jobs during the next few years.

Methodology
The 2016 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2012 to 2015. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2012 and be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of Dec. 31, 2015.

About Inc. Media
Founded in 1979 and acquired in 2005 by Mansueto Ventures, Inc. is the only major brand dedicated exclusively to owners and managers of growing private companies, with the aim to deliver real solutions for today's innovative company builders. Total monthly audience reach for the brand has grown significantly from 2,000,000 in 2010 to over 15,000,000 today. For more information, visit www.inc.com.

This year, more than 6,000 entries in 25 categories were considered, with only the top 15 percent receiving an award.

Our bi-annual catalog is a significant undertaking, and our creative team always puts a great amount of initiative and planning into designing and producing a catalog that is visually engaging, informative and easy to navigate,” said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. “With every catalog, we look for ways to make the shopping experience easier for our designer and retailer customers, and our team always rises to the challenge.
